Microsilica - Sioxid®

MICROSILICA-SIOXID® is a trade name for finely dispersed silicate material having a grey colour. Microsilica – Sioxid® consists of extremely fine grained and condensed silicon dioxide fumes generated through electric arc furnaces during ferrosilicon manufacturing.

Physical properties

Specific density of undensified MICROSILICA - SIOXID® is approximately 220 kg/m3. Apparent density of silica fume in its original undensified form is roughly 130 to 350 kg/m3. For improving handling and transportation silica fume can be densified into micropelletized form with higher apparent density of 450 to 650 kg/m3. Fineness of material as characterized by specific surface measured by nitrogen absorption method (BET) normally ranges from 15,000 to 30,000 m2/kg. Most particles are with a diameter of 0.1 to 0.2 μm. Annealing loss as measured by L. O. I. method is max. 3 % at 750°C.

Intended use

MICROSILICA – SIOXID® consists of extremely fine grained and condensed silicon dioxide fumes generated through electric arc furnaces during ferrosilicon manufacturing.

Packing and Transport

MICROSILICA – SIOXIDU® is delivered either by road-tanks or in big bags with the net content of approximately 350 kg for undensified material and 1,100 kg for densified pelletized material. Avoid dampening of material during transportation.
